The E-Series loudspeaker range from d&b audiotechnik comprises the smallest cabinets within the product range and are systems that are predominantly used as single units or in distributed sound reinforcement environments. Their highly compact and unobtrusive design makes them visually discreet yet audibly impressive, with their combination of directivity control, bass response and maximum sound pressure level all being realized from such small cabinets. These incredibly flexible loudspeakers are therefore ideally suited for use in distributed speech reinforcement systems in a variety of applications such as industrial presentations, broadcast studios, surround sound, delay and infill systems. The E-Series loudspeakers, together with the E-PAC amplifier, can also provide an ultra compact and lightweight mobile PA system for smaller sound reinforcement tasks.

| E0 Loudspeaker |
E0 Rigging Examples |
The E0 is the littlest d&b loudspeaker. The coaxially mounted 5" LF driver and 1" HF dome tweeter produce a wide conically symmetric directivity up to very high frequencies. Consequently the E0 delivers the same performance characteristic whether mounted horizontally or vertically. It is specifically suited for near field applications such as delay and surround sound systems in close proximity to the audience where the audio source should not be obvious. It can also be used as a full range system for background music and for distributed sound. For extended SPL requirements the E12 subwoofer can complement up to four E0 loudspeakers.

| E3 Rigging Examples |
The E3 is an extremely small and versatile high performance system with astonishing sound and excellent headroom. The loudspeaker enclosure houses a 6.5" LF driver passively crossed over to a 1" exit HF compression driver fitted to a 90° × 60° rotatable horn. Compared to the E0 it has twice the cabinet volume and peak SPL but is still a surprisingly compact sound solution. Its directivity control helps for critical speech reinforcement in distributed systems with larger distances to the audience. It can also be used as a space saving, unobtrusive small stage monitor.
E6 loudspeaker [NEW]
The E6 is a high performance two-way multipurpose loudspeaker employing an integrated coaxial driver with a neodymium magnet assembly. The 1" exit HF compression driver and constant directivity horn are accommodated within the circumference of the 6.5" LF driver. The horn with its 100° × 55° dispersion pattern (h × v) can easily be rotated through 90° without the use of tools to provide a 55° × 100° dispersion pattern.
The E6 can be used for speech and music applications as a stand-alone full range system, or incorporated into larger distributed sound reinforcement situations. It can be mounted on loudspeaker stands or flown from overhead bars, while the multifaceted shape of the enclosure allows use either in a vertical or horizontal orientation as well as deployment as a stage monitor. With the addition of an E12X-SUB or any other E-Series subwoofer, the E6 can also reproduce high level music program.
The E6 cabinet has an impact paint finish. The front is protected by a magnetically attached rigid metal grill backed by an acoustically transparent fabric. The grill can easily be removed without tools to modify the horn orientation. The cabinet incorporates a handle and mounted on the rear panel are two EP5 or NL4 connectors wired in parallel.

NEW d&b E8 Loudspeaker
The E8 is a two-way multipurpose loudspeaker employing an integrated coaxial driver design with a single neodymium magnet.
The HF section is loaded with a constant directivity horn which is accommodated within the circumference of the 8" LF driver. It has either a 90° × 50° or 50° × 90° dispersion pattern (h × v), selected by rotating the horn through 90°.
With a maximum output of 129 dB SPL, it weighs in at a mere 7.3 kg (16.1 lb).
The E8 can be used for speech and music as a standalone full range system, incorporated into larger distributed sound reinforcement situations, mounted on loudspeaker stands or flown from overhead bars.
Its multi faceted shape allows use in a vertical or horizontal orientation as well as deployed as a stage monitor. The addition of the E15X subwoofer extends its bandwidth of 62 Hz to 18 kHz down to 40 Hz.
Operation with D6 or D12
Select the controller setup E8.
On the D12 amplifier it is available in "Dual Channel" and "Mix TOP/SUB" mode. For combinations with active subwoofers fed by a single 4/5-wire cable "Mix TOP/SUB" mode must be selected. Up to a total of four E8 loudspeakers can be driven by each channel of the D6 or D12 amplifiers.

Controller settings
For acoustic adjustment the functions CUT, HFA and CPL can be selected.
CUT circuit
Set to CUT, the E8 low frequency level is reduced. The E8 is now configured for use with E15X-SUB in active mode or other d&b active subwoofers.
HFA Mode
In HFA mode (High Frequency Attenuation), the HF response of the E8 system is rolled off. The HFA provides a natural, balanced frequency response when a unit is placed close to listeners in near field or delay use. High Frequency Attenuation begins gradually at 1 kHz, dropping by approximately 3 dB at 10 kHz. This roll-off mimics the decline in frequency response experienced when listening to a system from a distance in a typically reverberant room or auditorium.

E15X-SUB
The E15X-SUB is a compact high performance subwoofer for use with
d&b E-Series loudspeakers. It employs a long excursion 15" neodymium
driver in a bass-reflex enclosure.
Due to the built in passive crossover network the E15X-SUB can be
operated in parallel to E12 or E12-D loudspeakers on one amplifier
channel, greatly extending the low frequency headroom and bandwidth
of the systems.
As an alternative it can be operated actively driven by its own amplifier
channel without the need for any changes to the cabinet. In active mode
the E15X-SUB can be used to supplement any of the E-Series cabinets,
its frequency response extending from 40 Hz to 110 Hz.
Operation with D12 or D6
Passive operation connected in parallel to E12 or E12-D
Select the setup E12-X respectively E12-DX when E12 or E12-D cabinets
are used in combination with E15X-SUB loudspeakers on the same
channel. Compared to the standard E12, E12-D setups the X versions
provide a dedicated correction for the combined frequency response of
these systems. D12 amplifiers have to be set to "Dual Channel" to access
these.
Selecting E12-X or E12-DX setups enables up to a total of two E12 or
E15X-SUB loudspeakers to be driven by the respective channel. In
applications with low continuous levels and low ambient temperatures
up to three cabinets can be connected to a D12 channel.
Active operation
Select the setup E15-SUB to drive E15X-SUB in active mode. E-Series full
range cabinets should now be operated in CUT mode to increase the
system headroom. Within the D12 amplifier the E15-SUB setup is
available in "Dual Channel" and "Mix TOP/SUB" mode.
Selecting the E15-SUB setup enables up to two E15X-SUB loudspeakers
to be driven by the respective channel. In applications with low
continuous levels and low ambient temperatures up to three cabinets
can be connected to a D12 channel.
INFRA circuit
If the INFRA circuit is selected, the upper operating frequency of the
system is reduced from 110 Hz to 70 Hz. It can be used when actively
driven E15X-SUB subwoofers are used to supplement E-Series cabinets
operated in full range mode like e.g. in a distributed sound system.
Operation with E-PAC

B4-SUB
The B4-SUB is an actively driven cardioid subwoofer powered by a single amplifier channel. It houses two long excursion neodymium drivers in an integrated cardioid setup: a 15" driver in a bass-reflex design facing to the front and a 12" driver in a two chamber bandpass design radiating to the rear. The cardioid dispersion pattern resulting from this approach avoids unwanted energy behind the system that greatly reduces the reverberant field at low frequencies and provides the greatest accuracy of low frequency reproduction. The B4 subwoofer can only be used in a ground stacked setup. The B4-SUB cabinet is constructed from marine plywood, has an impact and weather resistant paint finish and a pair of handles. An M20 threaded flange in the top panel accepts the d&b Loudspeaker stand winder M20. The loudspeaker cabinet is also available in Special Colour (SC) options.

Operation with D6 or D12
Select the controller setup B4-SUB.
Within the D12 amplifier this is available in "Dual Channel" and "Mix
TOP/SUB" mode.
IMPORTANT! Selecting the B4-SUB setup enables up to two B4-SUB loudspeakers to
be driven by the respective D6 or D12 channel. To apply SenseDrive for the subwoofer, EP5 connectors and 5-wire cables have to be used. When operated in Mix TOP/SUB" mode, the
subwoofer has to be fed from the output B connector of the D12 amplifier.
100 Hz circuit
If the 100 Hz circuit is selected the upper operating frequency of the system is reduced from 150 Hz to 100 Hz. It can be used when actively driven B4-SUB subwoofers are used to supplement E-Series cabinets operated in full range mode, for example in a distributed sound system. The 100 Hz mode can also be used to compensate for the effect of close coupling between the B4-SUB and E-Series cabinets operated in CUT mode. With T-Series cabinets the standard mode is recommended.

E12X subwoofer
The E12X-SUB is a compact, light weight, high performance subwoofer for use with d&b E-Series loudspeakers. It employs a long excursion 12" neodymium driver in a bass-reflex enclosure. The built in passive crossover network allows the E12X-SUB to be connected in parallel to the E8 loudspeaker on the same amplifier channel, greatly extending the low frequency headroom and bandwidth of the systems. As an alternative it can be operated actively, driven by its own amplifier channel without the need for any changes to the cabinet. In active mode the E12X-SUB can be
used to supplement any of the E-Series cabinets. The E12X-SUB cabinet is constructed from marine plywood and has an impact resistant finish, a handle and an M20 threaded flange on the top to accept the d&b Loudspeaker stand winder M20. The front of the loudspeaker cabinet is protected by a rigid metal grill backed by an acoustically transparent foam. Four rubber feet prevent cabinet movement and protect the bottom panel against scratching. Correspondingly shaped recesses are incorporated in the top panel of each cabinet to accept these and to prevent
cabinet movement when stacked. Mounted on the rear panel are two EP5 or NL4 connectors wired in parallel.

E12X-SUB with D6 and D12
Selecting the active E12-SUB configuration in the D6 and D12 dual channel amplifiers enables up to two E12X-SUB cabinets to be driven by each channel. In applications with low continuous levels and low ambient temperatures up to three loudspeakers per D12 channel may be connected.
When the D12 is operated in Mix TOP/SUB mode configuration the E12X-SUB cabinets and respective fullrange systems can be linked together locally and fed by a single 4-wire cable from either amplifier output connector. For acoustic adjustment the 140 Hz setting can be selected.
When the 140 Hz circuit is selected, the upper operating frequency of the system is raised from 100 Hz to 140 Hz. This may be selected to supplement E-Series loudspeakers operating in CUT
mode, when the coupling of the systems requires more energy in this frequency band.
The D12 incorporates d&b SenseDrive for accurate control of driver membranes in d&b subwoofers, resulting in an extremely precise bass performance, even at high levels. SenseDrive is only available using a D12 fitted with EP5 connectors and appropriate 5-wire cabling. For further information please refer to the d&b TI 340 SenseDrive, which is available for download at www.dbaudio.com.
Passive operation in parallel to E8
The E8-X configuration in the D6 and D12 dual channel amplifiers should be selected when an E8 loudspeaker is used in combination with E12X subwoofers in passive mode driven from one amplifier channel. Compared to the standard E8 configuration, the E8-X configuration provides a dedicated correction for the combined frequency response of the loudspeaker and subwoofer. Selecting the E8-X configuration enables a combination of E8 and E12X-SUBs to be driven by the respective channel.
